Sorry it's so late. I'm happy with how it turned out though, so it was worth it.

I'm working on it, just slowed down a bit by the hand problems. It's shaping up pretty nicely, and should be up tonight, hopefully by not too long after 2am. For now though, you might check out the stand-alone stories or head over to Questionable Content, which has been particularly hilarious this week. (I'm pretty excited for SCRA)

So, it turns out that staying up all night working on the internet and then writing an essay longhand for and hour and a half is not a great idea if you have carpel tunnel, who knew? Anyhow, I was hoping to have the chapter up tonight and continue the day-early trend, but that's looking doubtful. Depending on how my hand/wrist is feeling tomorrow, it might have to be a short chapter. What that would mean is that there would be another short chapter sometime during the weekend, I think. Or maybe a myth installment. I'm going to play it by wrist and do my best to stick to the schedule with a full chapter. On a different subject, you may have notice the "Share This" buttons and all the blog directory links that have recently gone up. I've been trying to spread the site around as much as I can, but I would really appreciate anyone taking the time to bookmark the site or give me ratings/votes on the directories. Thanks for your support, I shall send you gift baskets of karma and good will as soon as I can get to the meta-post office.

Wow. That sucked a lot.

Sorry to anyone trying to view the page this evening, it was royally screwed.
I was trying to configure Virtual Multiblogs to make the general blog page work better, and I ended up screwing something up pretty badly. I don't know what I did, but it was deep in there and I couldn't find it; so, after a lot of trying and failing to fix things, I ended up having to completely reinstall WordPress. Of course, this means I also had to reinstall the theme and edit all the files--something that took me two weeks the first time--and I still have a good bit of work to do to get the site back to what it was. Oh well, maybe I'll have better ideas after the practice run. (If that's not putting lipstick on a pig I don't know what is.) So, it is now 4 am and I have my final in-class essay for my summer class in the morning. After all that frustration, there's no way I'll be able to sleep tonight (can't risk missing the class, for one thing). Even if I did get to sleep, I would only get a couple of hours, which for me would probably do more harm than good in terms of how well I write the essay. All in all, this sucked. I think I will be more careful with my database backups from now on.

Here's chapter two a day early. I didn't wanna wait. Who knows, maybe the next one will go up early too and I'll start posting more than twice a week.

Thanks to everyone following the ads, and those of you who found this through other means. I'm really happy so many people are reading! Readership has tripled in the last few days, and that really makes me feel good.
I wish I could write more right now, but carpel tunnel really really hurts and I shouldn't even be writing this much. I just want to say thanks for reading!

Children of the First is an ongoing serial webnovel about Shawn, a Dragonblood student at Raekos University. There are new chapters as often as I can write them (currently about once a week), and they won't be stopping anytime soon. I hope you enjoy the story, and comments are always appreciated!
Read the rest of the About the Story (if you wanna).

So if you've been here before I'm sure you'll notice the changes to the site I've made. I'm still working on it, but for the time being I'm working in my current Wordpress theme. I've got a lot to learn about writing code, but eventually I'll be able to do a completely original layout and everything. Just getting the header stuff to work right was enough for today. (more...)
