So MeiLin Miranda is on a brief hiatus from her webnovel An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom, and put out a call for silly guest-content, including Intimate History related LOLcats. Naturally, I couldn't resist.
Go read her story, it's damn good. Go on, I'll wait.
Okay, here's the new chapter. I don't know when the next one will be, but I'm going to try to get a little writing done tonight, since I'll be up. I woke up at 8pm today and have to reset my sleep schedule, so that's fun. I also have to find another job this week (see Donation Beg), so that may forestall the next chapter. We shall see. (more...)
I hate to write a post about this, but here's the situation:
I just found out my bills are about twice as much as they usually are, due to a couple of factors (people moving in and out being one of them). I also have to renew my car registration this month, but I already knew that.
Normally I would be able to afford at least one of these unexpected expenses in any given month. However, having both of them in the same month means that the small buffer between the money I have and the money I need is not going to cut it.
Here's the kicker:
I work for a catering company, and normally I could pick up extra shifts to try to cover things like this; but (this is the fun part) I found out yesterday that they have 0 events until September. ZERO. None. Not one.
This means I'm out of work until then, and won't have the 400ish dollars I would normally make.
I'm going to start looking for another job tomorrow, but it'll be at least three weeks before I see a paycheck, so this is what I'm going to do:
Beg For Donations-- every little bit helps (at least a dollar, because of Paypal) and I really appreciate anything you can give.
As a little extra incentive/thank you, I'll write a bonus story for every $15 donated. You can leave suggestions for the bonus story in the comments on this post.
As always, spreading the word around is a free alternative to donations, and can help pull in more readers and more ad revenue.
Sorry for that...
So I missed my flight this morning and ended up on a later one that is taking twice as long. Right now I'm in the Atlanta airport (making me pay for wi-fi, how dare you!) waiting for my flight to New Orleans. I had planned on writing the new chapter partially on the plane and finishing it when I got to NO. Unfortunately, I'll be getting in to NO at 11:something pm instead of 1:40 pm, which leaves me much less time to write with a clear head.
I've made some progress on the plane, but it's hard to write with a weird old guy sleeping on you. I still hope to get it done tonight, but it's seeming less likely. The schedule should stop being insane next week, when I'm home without madness about me. (Okay, maybe some madness, but the madness I'm used to.)
Oh, and Chapter Seven's bit about the Gibri families has been edited.
New chapter up before my battery dies, alright! (more...)
i'm a good bit into it and it's looking good, but again it's taking a turn I didn't expect, so the notes I had are way less useful than I had anticipated. It should be finished tomorrow and then the next one should catch up to what I had originally planned for last chapter.
Also, The Dark Knight was awesome--check out my review on the blog if you're interested.
Sunday Night Addendum: Describing fictional sports equipment is freaking hard! I've spent the last couple hours working on it and getting nowhere... I may have to rethink my approach. Also, my wrists are starting to hurt so I'm going to take a break from typing while I try to figure this out. I'm still hoping to have the new chapter up tonight, but it's not going up if I'm not happy with how it's turning out. Fingers crossed.
So here's the new chapter, finally. It turns out that most of what I had planned for it didn't even come up; this one had a mind of it's own and I'm really happy how it turned out. It ended up being pretty tricky to write, demanding a lot of revision and whatnot, but it was worth it. The guest chapter(s?) is/are still in the works, but it should be pretty cool. The next chapter should be up some time around Saturday, barring unforeseen California Craziness. Thanks for bearing with me as things go wonky. (more...)
and I've been trying to write the chapter, but it's damn hard to write in a car and everytime I've tried to write after driving all day, it hasn't gone well. I end up spinning my wheels writing and re-writing and it ends up... well, it's not so much good as it is bad. So I wouldn't put that stuff up anyhow.
I'm trying to write tonight, but how that will go remains to be seen. That said, here's what I can guarantee:
THE NEW CHAPTER WILL BE POSTED BEFORE END OF (MY) BUSINESS DAY TOMORROW.
Also, for those who are interested, I'm going to move all the travel junk to the general blog and write some broader travel stuff.
Thanks to those who've show their support and understanding (especially Pan, you rock dude(dudette?), glad you're around.)

My Nerves Suck -or- Why There Are No New Chapters UpPosted by: Alex McG in Notes from the Author
Hey guys!
So I'm back in New Orleans, but not for long. I'll be road-tripping out to LA starting Saturday, so I don't know what this week will be like for my schedule.
With that in mind, there won't be a normal chapter today. I'm going to be working on the site instead (getting the general blog up and running, exploring other site navigation options). Hopefully, there will be a bonus chapter by a guest author going up sometime soon, probably about Lora Lena and "Dark Mountain."
So, while I'm working on this stuff, if any of you have any suggestions about site navigation or features, I'd love to hear them (especially any difficulties you've noticed with navigation).
Thanks!
